Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana, sliced and frozen
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup water or coconut water
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon flaxseed
  • Optional: Dash of cinnamon or turmeric
  • Optional: Handful of spinach

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice the banana, then freeze overnight for a creamier texture.
  2. Grate the fresh ginger using a fine grater or microplane.
  3. Juice the lemon fresh; avoid bottled juice for best flavor.
  4. Add banana, lemon juice, ginger, water or coconut water, and ice to a blender.
  5. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  6. Add any optional ingredients and blend again until well incorporated.
  7. Serve immediately in a tall glass with optional garnish of lemon or ginger twist.
